Title I Compact

Overview

Dutch Clark Digital Online and the parents of the students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State’s high academic standards.


Dutch Clark Digital Online will:

Provide a high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the State’s student academic achievement standards as follows:

  • Differentiated instruction for all students
  • “Highly Qualified” teachers in every classroom support rigor and depth of knowledge in data-driven instruction, promoting student growth, and mastery of skills needed to meet the educational challenges of the 21st century
  • Computer-based instruction offers individualized, differentiated, and engaging instructional opportunities
  • Creation of routines and procedures that take a proactive approach to academic and behavior expectations
  • Ongoing professional development for staff to increase effectiveness and meet the needs of all students
  • Personalized, customized learning opportunities that allow students to grow at their own pace
  • Professional Learning Communities will ensure that teachers are prepared for instruction aligned to state and national standards, assessment data  is analyzed to examine trends and determine next steps, and instructional adjustments are made to ensure every child learns at his maximum potential


Hold parent-teacher conferences during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement.  Specifically, those conferences will be held:

  • Back to School/Title I night in which the compact and Title I Parent Involvement will be discussed
  • CARE Conferences (Student Success Plans-SSP) will also be held as needed to support student success with engagement and progress toward graduation


Provide parents with frequent reports on their children’s progress.  Specifically, the school will provide reports as follows:

  • Home/School communication on a regular basis
  • Inform parents of all school events/meetings as well and encourage parents to attend
  • Weekly academic progress reports via parent email in Apex
  • Hexter grading periods


Provide parents reasonable access to staff.  Specifically, staff will be available for consultation with parents as follows:

  • Family Engagement Nights
  • Hold an annual “Open House” to meet staff and learn about Title I programs
  • Meet with parents upon request and/or return phone calls/ emails in a timely manner
  • School Website
  • Staff available by telephone, text, email, and by appointment
  • Communication with parents and students via Remind app


Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class, and to observe classroom activities, as follows:

  • Complete volunteer background check
  • Make the School Parent Involvement Policy, school Newsletters, and informational literature available in the Parent Resource center
  • Serve on the school parent accountability board
  • Sign-in and wear a volunteer badge at all times

 

Parent Responsibilities

We, as parents, will support our children’s learning in the following ways:

  • Monitoring and ensuring attendance
  • Participating, as appropriate, in decisions relating to my children’s education including attending Paragon Learning Center/Dutch Clark Digital onboarding and orientation with my student
  • Attend Title 1 Family Engagement Activities
  • Become aware of and follow the rules and policies of the school and District
  • Communicate with staff regarding my child’s needs
  • Ensure students arrive on time
  • Listen to/Read School Messages when they are sent out
  • Provide updated contact information to the school
  • Return phone calls and answer requests for meetings and conferences in a timely manner

Student Responsibilities

We, as students, will share the responsibility to improve our academic achievement and achieve the State’s high standards.  Specifically, we will:

  • Believe that we can achieve high standards and attain our career goals
  • Attend school regularly and utilize After Hours Help when needed
  • Attend school activities and event offerings 
  • Be respectful to all adults and my peers
  • Come prepared to learn
  • Do my best on all local and state assessments
  • Follow all school rules
  • Set personal goals for achievement
  • Take pride in my school

Title One Programs and Plan

  • Inform parents about goals and purposes of Title I, curriculum used in Title I programs, academic assessments used to measure student progress, and proficiency levels students are expected to meet.
  • Involve parents in the planning, review, and improvement of Title I programs at school.
  • If the Title I Plan is not satisfactory to the parents, submit parent comments on the plan to the district.
  • If requested by parents, provide opportunities for regular meetings where parents may offer suggestions or ask questions.
  • Provide timely responses to parent’s suggestions/questions.
  • Provide assistance to parents, as appropriate, in understanding assessments, Title I requirements, monitoring academic progress, and how to work together to improve student achievement.
